"The first time I created a mud canvas, on which I placed a leaf sculpture, I revisted it on a couple of occasions later and witnessed it change, decay and degrade. I was very interested to discover how it changed and I realised how each became a mini record of the elements through which it had existed.
Heavy rain might strip the mud from the stone or hot weather and wind may crack and dry out the mud.

Most of the mud sculptures I make now, I revisit to record how they decay over the following days, weeks and sometimes, when a sculpture is particularly long lasting, months and then display this process in a long series of photographs."
